Eyes
Description: Pai is the last of the
Sanjiyan -- a magical race of 3-eyed creatures, and she
comes in search of Tokyo high-school student Yakumo with
news of his father's death and hopes of becoming human.
After a fatal accident, Pai is forced to absorb Yakumo's
soul to keep him from dying, making him an undead
creature bound to her. Their journey to make Pai human
becomes complicated with dark forces seeking to stop
them, especially when Pai's crueler nature emerges...

3x3 Eyes
is a high-quality fantasy adventure, with elements of horror,
comedy, and romance, one of my favorites, highly recommended.
It's based on the manga by Yuzo Takada (Nuku-Nuku, Blue
Seed), and it features superstar voice actress Megumi
Hayashibara, perhaps best known as female Ranma, showing her
versatility as the voice of both personalities of Pai.
The protagonist, Yakumo, finds himself thrust into a
supernatural quest and supernatural conflicts. He remains in
the real world, our world, but now his sees its horrifying
underside. Scenes where he has to fight monsters are very dark
and effective. Hardly less terrifying is his ally, Pai's other
personality, the cold Sanjiyan, with her contempt for mere
human lives. But Yakumo starts to grow into his new role, and
his feelings for Pai start to blossom.
The biggest problem with this first series is that the
first OVA episode is based on five manga installments, and it
comes off rushed and partly incomprehensible.
